When disasters occur and people need help, PepsiCo and the PepsiCo Foundation respond to bring relief to families and communities in need, through product donations, support to non-profit partners, and employee contributions.
United States Disaster Relief, 2013 - Current
The PepsiCo Foundation has been an American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program (ADGP) partner since 2013, providing critical funding that enables the American Red Cross to prepare communities in the United States for disasters big and small, respond when disasters occur and help families during the recovery process. ADGP funding supports the American Red Cross to respond to disasters such as the Flint water crisis, Baltimore riots, winter storms, flooding, tornadoes and wildfires.
Hurricane Matthew in the Caribbean and Southeast U.S., October, 2016
In response to the devastation and destruction of Hurricane Matthew and to assist communities in Haiti and the Southeast United States, the PepsiCo Foundation donated USD $750,000 to the American Red Cross to support Hurricane Matthew disaster relief efforts. In addition, PepsiCo provided the Haitian Ministry of Health - through the NGOs, Partners in Health and Heifer International - 200,000 bottles of Gatorade, a sports drink which includes electrolytes and carbohydrates, for Hurricane Mathew victims in the southern region of Haiti. Earthquake in Ecuador, April, 2016
In response to the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Ecuador on Saturday, April 16, the PepsiCo Foundation is donating $500,000 USD to support disaster relief and recovery efforts. To deliver this aid, the PepsiCo Foundation is partnering with the World Food Programme (WFP), the food assistance arm of the United Nations and world’s largest humanitarian organization fighting hunger. WFP is coordinating with the Ecuadorian Government to provide food assistance to affected families through food distributions or cash-based transfers in areas with stable markets. The PepsiCo Foundation funds are enough to feed more than 21,000 people for one month.
In addition to the Foundation grants and in response to the immediate needs of the impacted population, PepsiCo´s bottler partner, Tesalia CBC, is distributing 2,160,000 liters of water per week to the communities most in need. PepsiCo Latin America and PepsiCo Ecuador are activating a regional financial fundraising campaign to support PepsiCo’s impacted employees locally, which will be matched up to $50,000 USD by PepsiCo Latin America. Also, volunteering initiatives are being organized by both PepsiCo Ecuador and Tesalia CBC, including the collection of in-kind donations locally.

Water Crisis in Flint, MI, 2016
Flint, Michigan is facing an unprecedented water crisis, as it has come to light that lead-contaminated water has been flowing into residents' homes and businesses for more than a year. PepsiCo donated 1.5 million bottles of Aquafina in partnership with Walmart and other beverage manufacturers - find more information about this donation here.

Flooding in Chennai, India, 2015
In response to the historic flooding in Chennai, India, in late 2015, PepsiCo donated truckloads of water and partnered with local retailers to give people daily necessities like rice and other food items. In addition, the PepsiCo Foundation provided $500,000 USD to the Smile Foundation, a local organization providing relief on the ground.
Earthquakes in Nepal, April, 2015
PepsiCo India and the PepsiCo Foundation worked with relief partners to get much-needed supplies, water and food to the people of Nepal in response to the devastating earthquakes in April 2015. In the days immediately following the earthquake, PepsiCo and our local bottling partner in Nepal donated more than 70,000 liters of Aquafina and, in continued efforts, provided more than one million liters of Aquafina water and at least one metric ton of Quaker Oats. The PepsiCo Foundation provided $250,000 USD to the American Red Cross and $250,000 USD to the World Food Programme for a total of $500,000 USD for the relief of the victims of the earthquake. In addition, the PepsiCo Foundation matched more than $50,000 USD in employee donations for Nepal disaster relief, and provided an additional $50,000 USD to the Red Cross and $50,000 USD to Mercy Corps based on the votes of PepsiCo employees in the 50 for 50 Community Give Back program.
Flooding in the Balkans, May, 2014
Following massive flooding that caused widespread devastation and destruction, PepsiCo and the PepsiCo Foundation provided $300,000 USD in relief on the ground. The PepsiCo Foundation donated $100,000 USD to the American Red Cross and $100,000 USD to the World Food Programme to support international relief efforts in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. PepsiCo supported the Red Cross of Serbia and the Red Cross of Bosnia and Herzegovina with a $100,000 USD grant, as well as donating 1.5 tons of its products. Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, November, 2013
Following the devastation from Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, the PepsiCo Foundation donated $1,000,000 USD to support disaster relief and recovery efforts. Four relief agency partners helped to deliver this aid - American Red Cross International Response Fund, Give2Asia, Habitat for Humanity International and Save the Children - each bringing different expertise in disaster relief in the aftermath and long-term rebuilding of impacted communities throughout the Philippines. Hurricane Sandy, October, 2012
In anticipation of Hurricane Sandy's destructive impact on the U.S. east coast in October 2012, the PepsiCo Foundation committed funding to the American Red Cross and Feeding America to help prepare for and respond to the damage caused by the storm.
Following the hurricane, the PepsiCo Foundation provided additional financial support, and local PepsiCo teams donated over 30 truckloads of beverages and snacks to storm victims and relief workers.
In partnership with Feeding America and the YMCA, PepsiCo associates prepared meals for distribution at local food banks in the New York area and served over 1,400 holiday dinners to families severely impacted in and around Moonachie, New Jersey.
In total, PepsiCo and the PepsiCo Foundation provided more than $1.3 million USD for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
